Parents

Decades of research show that when parents are involved in their children school life, students have a tendency for higher grades, test scores and graduation rates, improved school attendance, increased motivation, better self-esteem, lower rates of suspension, and fewer cases of violent behavior. The earlier in a child’s educational process parent involvement begins, the more powerful the effects on a student’s achievements and success.

Parental Involvement:

Global Outreach Charter Academy initiates a variety of programs that promote parental involvement in a number of ways, such as:

Parenting, whereby GOCA aids to help families with their parenting skills by providing information on a child’s developmental stages and offering advice on learning-friendly home environments;

Communicating, which involves educating families about their child’s progress and school services and providing opportunities for parents to communicate with the school;

Volunteering, which ranges from offering opportunities for parents to visit their child’s school to helping in organization of a school trip or a special event;

Learning at home, which promotes sharing ideas to promote at-home learning through high expectations and strategies so parents can monitor and help with homework.

Decision-making, in which GOCA includes families as partners in school organizations, advisory panels, and parental committees.

Community collaboration, a two-way outreach strategy in which community or business groups are involved in education and Global Outreach Charter Academy encourages family participation in our community outreach.

Parent Teacher Association – PTA

Goals & Aims

The GOCA PTA’s goal is to maintain and improve the quality of education and to support both the school’s ethos and its future plans through professional initiatives.
The PTA committee is elected on an annual basis as the formal body to represent the parents and guardians of students attending Global Outreach Charter Academy. Meetings take place on a monthly basis and are attended by representative teachers and parents.

We encourage parents to become involved in the PTA where they can express their views with regard to school events and assist in the organization of forthcoming activities and events.
